Five on Friday

Happy Valentine's Day, y'all!  Some folks think this little holiday is silly and maybe it is, but I've always enjoyed it.  Even from a young age, my daddy made me feel special for Valentine's day.  Candy, cards, flowers--what's not to love?  It's nice to have a day set aside to pile on the love.  It's fun!  And I like fun!

[ONE]

The girls and I made our Valentine a little something special for his office.  That little hand-print in the top right nearly wiped me out!  Paint everywhere, I tell ya!!!

[TWO]

This week, we have had one of Graham's seminary professors in for a special visit.  He spoke at our church on Sunday and then again on Monday night.  It was such a treat.  Sunday night, he came over for dinner and brought me TULIPs.   I appreciated the sweet gesture and his humor!

[THREE]

My Valentine gave me a gorgeous cameo necklace.  He found it at a local boutique and said he thought it looked like something I'd like.  Nailed it!

[FOUR]

Totally random, but for those of you around my age, you may remember the good 'ole days of the gold rope chain fad.  I think I last wore mine in the eight grade.  It was the thing to have--that, along with suede jackets, and Doc Martens.  My dad found mine on a trip to Taiwan and I was so excited to wear it!  I've kept it all these years and randomly broke it out the other day.  I'm kinda liking the simplicity of it.  Yes? No?

Happy Valentine's Day

Our Valentine's Day

I've said it before and I'll say it again...We love to celebrate!  We are fans of celebrations and Valentine's day is no exception.  Although, it's not necessary to spend a fortune on gifts/treats, we always get a little something for one another.
Sunday pic
*it rained a ton so the girls wore their cute rainboots*
Yesterday, we got a package from Tat and Gaga:  Shari's Berries = YUM!  How cute are those ladybug cakepops?

This morning, Graham woke us girls up with our Valentine's gifts...

Graham gave each of his girls a rose.  AG: yellow, Edy: pink, and me: red.

Edy hasn't been feeling well...again.  She has fever, sniffles, and a terrible cough.  Poor girl missed all the Valentine's fun at MDO today!

Graham got me a cutting board I've had my eyes on, a classic white pitcher, some chocolates, and a spa manicure and pedicure.  Wonderful!!
We finished up our day with Pizza Hut for dinner as a family. Thanks, Na and Pops!  Tomorrow night, Graham and I are going on a dinner date.  I'm looking forward to it!

Hope you had a Happy Valentine's Day!

Pre-Valentine's Day Fun

Last night, we had a little pre-Valentine's Day fun.  We made a heart-shaped cookie cake complete with pink icing and Valentine's sprinkles.
*Thanks, Na and Pops for the cake stuff.  It made for a fun family night.

After decorating and enjoying a slice of the cookie cake, the girls watched Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown on the iPad.

They were really in to it!

My two very different little sweeties!

week/weak review

Our week:
  • AG has discovered infomercials.  This morning, she informed me that steel springs cause back pain and  lack of energy.  (Thanks, Sleep Number!)
  • While eating dinner on Monday night, the drum light fell from the ceiling stopping just before it landed on the table.  Great!  Thankful that nothing was damaged and we weren't out any money to have it repaired. (gotta love that our church is full of handy-men)
  • My computer semi-crashed on Tuesday.  I got it back yesterday and it is still having problems.  *sigh*
  • AG just finished her fifth reader.  She read two new books this week!
  • I just got word that the baby bedding should be here next week!  So excited.
  • I got semi-bad/semi-good news from the doctor.  Apparently, this 'platelet thing' isn't going away.  I'll share in a later post. I've got some questions and concerns.  Good news:  Blood work is better and the anemia is lessening and platelets aren't affecting baby Joy.
  • Edy has a mullet.  We are going for a haircut this afternoon.  Can't wait to see her with a new stacked bob.  I'll post pics later.
  • Valentine's Day is fast approaching.  I love Valentine's!
  • Got some Valentine goodies together for AG and Ro's MDO teachers.
How cute is this little treat?

How presh are these little girls in their new Valentine's shirts?  Thanks, Na and Pops!
  • Getting baby things down from the attic this afternoon.  I'm excited!
  • Edy spilled blood red Powerade on the carpet in her room.  It is NOT coming up. Suggestions welcome.
  • We are checking out a new park in Bullard today.  Apparently, there are only 10 like it in the nation.  The girls are excited and I'm anxious to see what all the hype is about.
  • I'm all caught up on Downton Abbey.  After being unimpressed with Season 1, I didn't jump on the bandwagon and watch Season 2.  A few weeks ago when Season 3 started, I DVR'd the episodes, checked out Season 2 from the library, loved it, and caught up on Season 3.  I'm all in and then some!!! #freebates #dowagercountess #sadaboutsybil
  • I thought we had an interesting week, but after reading over this post, I find it rather boring--quite weak.  (That reminds me...To all the Downton fans out there, do you catch yourself trying to talk super proper after each episode?  G calls me out all the time! #southerngirlprobs)
Updates on the pregnancy, Edy's blue blanket situation, and baby room progress coming soon!

Valentine's Fun (Day 4 & 5)

If you have been keeping up with the Valentine's fun from Graham, here are the next two cards...
We love having breakfast together as a family, but it rarely happens.  Needless to say, I was thrilled  to go to The Diner (favorite breakfast spot) with my husband and girls--fantastic french toast.

How awesome is my husband?  I didn't have to plan, cook, clean-up, or anything.  We enjoyed some pizza, some Dateline NBC (the Redbox was out of the movie we wanted), and some quality time with one another.

Can you believe I still have two more cards?  This has been such a wonderful treat.  Wonder how he is going to top this next year??

The Gift that Keeps on Giving

Not only did he get a babysitter, he also picked up a pizza for the kids' dinner.

He and I went for sushi.  I got the Tyler, TX roll--nice touch of spice and crunch.  After dinner, we went to Caffe Tazza for a homemade cinnamon roll and a cappuccino.
This morning I awoke to my next treat...
**FYI: The card can be confusing: I will be gone in the morning getting my crown...  Graham isn't being cocky, he was at the dentist! and I can put the girls down...  That's just our way of saying "nap time".

Anywho, I enjoyed a small popcorn (with butter) and saw Big Miracle.  It was a nice afternoon.

Happy Valentine's Day

We have had a great start to Valentine's Day...
The girls got one of my all time favorite Disney classics, Lady and the Tramp.
enjoying a Valentine's lunch
wearing a Valentine's lunch
heart-shaped quesadilla and strawberries, s'mores, and juice

Tonight, he got a babysitter and we are going out to dinner!  What a rare treat.  I'm thinkin' sushi!

{love} is in the air

Valentine's Day is tomorrow.

Today, Graham came home early from work with roses and some cards.  The first thing he said as he entered the door was, "I know you don't like gifts early, but there's a reason."

He handed each of his girls a single rose (a little tradition he's created).
Then, he handed me a card that contained seven separate cards...
Apparently, I'm going to get a little something each day this week.  How sweet is that?
Today, we headed to some local antique/junk stores looking for a little something for the house.  He knows me well.

We LOVE {our} man!

Valentine's Day--A Family Affair!

We get excited about holidays around here...even Valentine's Day.  Who doesn't like to celebrate? We embrace reasons to celebrate around our house.

Friday, we opened some gifts from our Valentine (hubby and daddy).
My sweeties!
Ooooo, Ariel card--her daddy knows her so well.
Yay! for the Chipmunk movie.
Yay! for cups to stack.
I got things that represent the 5 senses: candle, body scrub, Reese's heart, Crazy Love (I've been wanting to read this for a while--I'm late to jump on the bandwagon), Joshua Radin CD.  How clever is my guy?

Saturday, we had a dinner at church.  I was glad to have a sitter to watch the girls and some much needed adult time.  I laughed a lot!  It was nice.

My Valentine

This morning, we got up early and went to The Diner for a Valentine breakfast.  It was SO good.

Graham got us each a rose.  Ava--yellow, Edy--white, and me--red.  Ava's self-proclaimed favorite color is yellow and her daddy didn't forget.

Tonight, we headed out for a generic Valentine's dinner at Olive Garden.  We had a gift certificate which made it even more awesome!  Before heading out, we tried to get a family pic by setting the timer on the camera.  Uhhhh, you can see for yourself how impossible this photo shoot was...
I love Graham's face in the 3rd picture.  It makes me laugh every time I look at it.

All of our Valentine cards.  We are so loved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks to moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, and uncles for thinking of us!

What a fun Valentine's Day we had as a  family. I love making memories with my family.

I hope everyone enjoyed some time with their loved ones, no matter how cheesy this holiday can be.
