Five on Friday

It's FIVE on FRIDAY time!

one.  We've been traveling around our great home state of ARKANSAS!  First stop, we visited Pops and Na and had a fantastic time.

Vanilla tastes best when it's purple!

two.  Can you spot the AG?  We were in Mardel's and AG said, "Mom! Mom!"  I swear I looked around to find her for like 45 seconds before I spotted her.  We got a good laugh!

Then Edy had to try!

three.  After a year long sabbatical from running (for a number of reasons), I'm back at it and loving it!!  Looking forward to some upcoming races in my future!

four.  The girls were sad to end swimming lessons, but they did a great job.

four.  We are now at my parent's wrapping up our AR trip.  Graham heads back to TX from Nicaragua  today and we will join him next week!  We haven't seen him in nearly THREE weeks and miss him!

Tat and the girls

I'm looking forward to a slow weekend and lots of family time!  Have a good one, y'all!

Joy's New Do

Joy Tatum got her first haircut!  Although she doesn't have much hair what she was starting to form a mullet.
BEFORE

AFTER

Poor Joy has cowlicks galore! Thanks, Mom. j.k.

*Sorry for the blurry phone pics--she was wiggly!

Graham has lovingly poked fun at each of the girls' first hairdos.  For instance, he called AG "Baldy Professor" because she had a bunch of hair in the back, but not too much on top.  He called Edy (when she finally grew some) "Gollum/Smeagol" due to her scraggly irregular hair growth.  And...he's been calling Joy "Lloyd Christmas"...

Endearing or Mean?  Whatever the case, I laugh every time!

Five on Friday

Linking up with the gals for another FIVE on FRIDAY...

[ONE]
The girls are taking swimming lessons this week.  So far, so good.  They are making a lot of strides and I'm optimistic that AG will be swimming by the end of next week.  Edy Rose...well...she'll get there!

Edy, my sweet girl, never stops talking!

[TWO]
Poor Edy caught her baby sister's stomach bug.  She was pitiful, but such a trooper.  She's doing better.  Two down...one to go???  I sure hope not!

[THREE]
Summertime and the livin' is easy?  Really?

Summertime--one of our favorite songs and I love hearing my girls belt it out!

[FOUR]
Head over to my home tour page and check out my happily imperfect kitchen!

[FIVE]
Who's ready for some BB???  We stopped watching it for a long time, but last summer we got back into it because Graham knew one of the cast members.  We are hooked and can't wait for another summer of expecting the unexpected!

If you have a minute, check out some of the links from WYWW!  Don't forget to link-up this Wednesday.  It's such an easy way to connect with other bloggers.  We'd love for you to join us.

I featured Amanda @ Cultivate Create's painted parquet floors.  They are incredible! Click HERE to take a look.

Five on Friday

Time for another Five on Friday...

[ONE]
Graham has high hopes of growing a few pumpkins this fall.  Apparently, the prime time to plant pumpkin seeds in order to have pumpkins by Halloween is July 4th.  He has the soil ready to go and will be planting the seeds in the coming weeks.  Crossing my fingers he gets a few pumpkins.  I've mentioned that plants come here to die, but maybe, just maybe, Graham is better with plants than me.  I'll keep you posted.

[TWO]
Joy has been really sick with vomiting and fever for the last few days.  Having a sick baby is one of the most helpless feelings for a parent.  My poor baby was very sick.

I'm happy to report that she's on the mend.

[THREE]
Graham is so good about taking his girls on dates.  Monday, they went to see Maleficent.  They loved it and had the best time with their handsome date.

[FOUR]
Y'all, I'm not a baker...but I try. Here's my attempt at copying Nothing Bundt Cake's icing style...

[FIVE]
If you haven't checked out my home tour series, click HERE.  So far I've given a tour of three rooms in our home.  More to come in next week.

Wishing the dads in my life a very Happy Father's Day!!

Imperfect Home Tour: Big Girls' Room

Like I said last weekI love making my house a home.  It's my hobby, but I'll be the first to tell you I'm no interior designer.  I enjoy decorating and I'm learning to embrace my home and my style--imperfections and all!

Today, I'm showing off my big girls' room:  Ava Grace and Edy Rose.

The girls have been sharing a room for around two years.  AG sleeps on the bottom bunk and Edy sleeps on the trundle pull-out bed.  Although the top bunk has a bar and ladder, I'm not quite ready to make that bed every single day.  Have y'all made a bunk bed?  It's literally torture!

A year ago, I painted my old childhood armoire this bright creamsicle color.  You can read more about that HERE.

Hands down, the number one viewed post and most pinned post from my blog is the tutorial I gave on making cornice boards without any carpentry necessary.  Click HERE to check it out.  In the post, I give a detailed tutorial on how to make cornice boards from Styrofoam insulation using duct tape, a staple gun, some batting, and fabric.  I'm happy to report that these cornice boards are still as lovely as the day they were installed.

My big girls are 2.5 years apart, but they are best friends.  I pray they will always love each other as they do now...and include Joy in their bond as she gets older.

This little cabinet has been repurposed so many times.  First, it was my in-laws.  Then, Graham and I painted it and used it in our first apartment as a little pantry.  After that, I painted it again and used it in my classroom.  AG's nursery was pink and brown and I painted it and used it in there for a while.  Now, it fits perfectly behind the girls' bed to store books.  I've never taken the time to repaint it.  I guess I could quickly repaint the door for a quick update.  Hmmm...maybe later! :)

I'm so thankful for this big closet.  It makes organizing and keeping things tidy so much easier.

AG loves her room!
Edy still enjoys playing at her vintage AKA 1990s hair salon.
