LIGCON 2017

Back in March, Graham and I went to Orlando for LigCon.  It was a celebration of the 500th year since the Protestant Reformation and of great encouragement for Christ followers as we move forward.

bossing me around

From one of my posts during the trip:

Christians friends, we owe so much to the great reformers such as Luther & Calvin and the work God did in & through them to bring about change in the church. On a personal note, I thank God for R. C. Sproul and the reformation God did on my heart through his commitment to teaching the Bible. As I listen to Renewing Your Mind, I can't help but smile when I hear his chalk hit that blackboard. I can hardly wait to hear him preach today at #ligcon! I praise God for R. C. Sproul!

Day 1 of bookstore purchases.  We ended up with much more!

Graham chatting with a lady that has been at every single LigCon!

I got to meet one of my heroes!  John MacArthur!!

Sunday at Sproul's church was a trip highlight.

My Love Language

About a month ago we were itching for a day trip. Graham googled "best places to go in Texas" and Jefferson popped up at the top of the list!  It's only a couple of hours from us so we hopped in the car and headed out.

I love, love, love me some junk, things from the past, and I'm pretty nostalgic, too.  Jefferson is MY KIND OF PLACE!!!

Check out this general store...

The girls got old-fashioned root beer floats and they were divine!

Basically, the whole town is nothing but antique and junk stores.  Have I mentioned that's my love language?? Fortunately, my husband likes walking around and looking at old stuff, too.  We make a good pair and can have a good time together just browsing the day away.  The kids weren't super enthusiastic and thought everything was old and from the 80s so we may go alone next time.

Girls Trip

For Mother's Day, Graham and the girls gave me a gift card to IKEA and Blue Mesa Cafe.  I took the big girls with me and we enjoyed a fun day trip together...

On the way home, we stopped in at Buc-ee's.  If you aren't from Texas, you might be a little confused so I'll explain.  Buc-ee's is not your average gas station.  It is HUGE!! It is CLEAN!!  It is FUN!!  It is AWESOME!  Seriously, awesome!  *google it!*

It doesn't happen enough, but I love time spent with my girls.  I enjoyed our conversations and laughs, too.  These two girls are great company.

Mini-Vacay

This weekend, we went on a little mini-vacay to DFW.  The girls always love staying in a hotel and going out to eat a bunch!  We all do!
Here are a few pics from our trip...
Fort Worth Zoo

Being the end of the school year, there were a lot of school kids at the zoo!  On the plus side, the weather was nice and most of the animals were out and about!

JoJo's first time to the zoo

Friday, we went to Six Flags.  Every single teenager in the state of Texas got the memo to come that day.  Regardless, we had a blast and the lines weren't so bad.

First thing after entering the park, the girls got their faces painted.  I swear the paint changed their personalities!!  They strutted around Six Flags like they owned the place!

Side note:  Edy kept referring to her face-paint as "paint-face".  By the end of the weekend that new term was concrete in our vocabulary.  So cute!

Wonder Woman and Supergirl on a mission!

Their capes gave them an even greater confidence boost!

When we got back to the hotel, Graham had bath-duty.  After baths, I glanced over to see both girls still sporting their "paint-face".  They have their daddy wrapped around their little fingers, don't they?

We had a wonderful time.  Thanks Aunt Ann and Aunt Dorothy for the memories!

Don't forget about tomorrow's link-up!  I will post one more time this afternoon with a few more details.  Remember, anything goes...ahem...not anything! You know what I mean! Basically, you can post What You Wish!

You can get to know the other hostesses for this link-up by clicking on their blog buttons located on my sidebar!  I hope you will join us!

Alabama Vacay

Last Sunday, we took off for a quick family vacation to visit my family in Alabama!  My sweet Gran and Papaw have been to see us three times since we've been in Texas and several times when we were in Arkansas.  We were long overdue for a visit in their neck of the woods!

The trip was estimated at around 10 hours, but with stops we were thinking more like 12.  Boy, were we wrong!!  The rain storm of the year was underway and we were stuck smack-dab in the middle of it!

Joy loved traveling in her new carseat!

We made the decision to stop about 6 hours into our trip for safety reasons.  We stopped in the middle of Mississippi for the night and the girls loved getting to swim at our hotel!
We got back on the road the next morning and safely arrived at my Gran's just in time for a wonderful home-cooked meal!
Monday night, we met up my Aunt Kathy and Uncle Rodger!
The girls with their great-aunt and great-uncle

Tuesday night, we had a big cook-out with a bunch of my family.  It was so good to see everyone and for them to meet Joy!
The girls with their Great-Great-Aunt Peggy

good. good. times.

On Wednesday night, Graham preached at my Gran's church.
Joy loved the music and listening to Papaw sing!

Thursday, we headed towards Memphis and our old stomping grounds.  We stopped by our first apartment for a quick peek.  We wanted to show it to the girls, but they weren't amused!  What?  You mean y'all had life before us!
We spent our first three years of marriage in this apartment building--seminary housing!

We spent the night in Southaven, MS and went to dinner with some of our dearest friends.  It was so good to catch up with two of our favorite people!
It's been 8 years since we hung out with Shawn and Robyn but it was as if no time had passed at all!  Love this couple so much!!

Friday, we made the long trip back to Texas.  We stopped in Little Rock for lunch and got to meet up with Na, Pops, and Mamaw!
The girls with their Great Mamaw

The girls were excellent travelers!  I was really impressed!
Ten minutes from home and AG decides to doze off!

I could tell that Joy was tickled to be back in her own bed.   Just check out her bed-head...
We had a wonderful time.  The girls absolutely love Gran--as do I!!!  I forgot my real camera *gasp* AND I neglected to get a pic of Gran and Papaw with the girls.  I'm SO upset with myself.  Guess that means another trip is in our near future!!!!

We love you so much, family!!!  Thanks so much for loving on us!  We miss y'all already.  Looking forward to our next visit.
