We Went to the Zoo

Yesterday we went to the zoo thanks to our year long passes courtesy of Aunt Ann and Aunt Dorothy!  Thanks again, y'all.  What a wonderful gift.

Edy has NO fear around the animals--none.

Bevo?  Is that you?

refusal to smile

We loved the penguin exhibit because we came during feeding time!
Aww....poor Jack.  He's going through his catastrophic molt.  He should be back to his old/new self in a few weeks.
We all got a big kick out of the ostrich on the other side of the glass.  All he heard was "feeding time"!

I'm standing in an elephant's footprint...
We all got in the footprint...
Edy sat down in the elephant footprint.

In the video:  The mountain lion seemed very interested in Edy.  We think he saw her as "lunch".  Pardon my VERY southern draw...seriously.

Birthday

Continuing the theme of being behind....  My BiRthDaY!

Yes, it was over a week ago, but I didn't want to skip posting about it.

>>>>For starters (the night before my bday), AG and I went to see the play Annie.  It was wonderful and AG was in complete awe.  It melted my heart.  At one point, she turned to me and asked, "Mom, when can I play Annie?" *heart-flutters*  Also, I noticed her quietly singing "Tomorrow" along with the cast...such a sweet moment.

>>>>I thought I would embark on *31* with a new do.  I was so sick of that long, stringy, straight hair I had going on--it was time for a change.  I like short hair despite the many myths that it is harder to fix (not for me--my hair has no curl whatsoever). I usually go to bed with it wet and if cut properly, it falls right into place.  How's that for easy!  I get bored with long hair on me because 90% of the time it's in a pony tail. **Totally pointless info...sorry.**

>>>>Let's see...eleven birthdays with my beloved and he has never ceased to get me a bday cake.  He also got a sitter and we went out for a wonderful (quiet, uninterrupted, stress-free) dinner!

Here's to hoping this year is better than my thirtieth!

Mother's Day...

Yes, I'm behind...

If you have been reading the blog for a while, you know that I love the month of MAY.  I explained my love for May in a post several years ago and my love hasn't changed.

One of the things I love about May is Mother's Day.

This Mother's Day (my fifth one, btw) my kiddos woke me up to a yummy breakfast and some sweet cards.  It was such a special treat.

I love these faces first thing in the morning!

Graham and the girls gave me a gift certificate for a massage and pedicure.  I was able to cash it in on Friday which happened to be my birthday.  It was extra special!

One of the things I love about blogging:  stored memories.  Here are my Mother's Days of the past:  20082009, 2010, 2011.

What I'm Reading...

I just started a new book, A Praying Life:  Connecting with God in a Distracting World, by Paul E. Miller.

Here is a little excerpt I took from the book...
Cynicism and glibness are just a part of the problem.  The most common frustration is the activity of praying itself.  We last for about fifteen seconds, and then out of nowhere the day's to-do list pops up and our minds are off on a tangent.  We catch ourselves and, by sheer force of the will, go back to praying.  Before we know it, it has happened again.  Instead of praying, we are doing a confused mix of wandering and worrying.  Then the guilt sets in.  Something must be wrong with me.  Other Christians don't seem to have this trouble praying....Something is wrong with us.  Our natural desire to pray comes from Creation.  We are made in the image of God.  Our inability to pray comes from the Fall.  Evil has marred the image.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And since I'm on the subject of prayer, I'll share that while praying this afternoon I actually caught myself saying, "Does that make sense?"
Whew!!!!  I'm so glad our God knows that I'm a mess and there's nothing I can say to insult His intelligence!
Mommy Group
I am a member of a WoNdErFuL mommy group and serve on the steering team.  We get together every other Wednesday and have.a.ball.  Today was our end of the year party--{western} themed!
For something fun, we had a little photo-booth...
I'm NO photographer, but these are pretty darn cute!
Adorable!
No western-themed party would be complete without a pin-the-mustache-on-the-cowboy game (even if the cowboy already has a stache)!
I'm so thankful for this great group of gals!
Pool Time
It's back!!!!
Last week, we broke out the ole kiddie pool and the girls couldn't be happier!
In regards to the shiner, it looks worse as it heals!
W-I-G-S make my girls happy
Someone called them Loretta Lynn and Cyndi Lauper.  That sounds about right!
The girls enjoying a movie in my bed.  I had to separate them with pillows so they would quit playing and wind down a bit...didn't work.
AG got a tat and Edy got her first shiner! You should see the other guy!
Enjoying the park in Magnolia with Tat and Gaga
The trip home from Tat and Gaga's...
Snoozing AKA peace for Momma
We went to see CHIMPANZEE.  It was so good.
This was Edy's first time to the movies--she was wild!
