31 Day Series

It's almost October!  YAY! for all of the fun fall activities coming up: pumpkin patch, pumpkin picking, Fall parties, Texas State Fair, Halloween, and Hayrides.  I'm so ready!
October is a fun blogging month, too.  Remember last year when I took The Nester's 31 day challenge?  I wrote about finding balance as a homeschool mom.  It was definitely a challenge:  writing everyday for a month isn't easy.
You can check out my 31 day series: Finding Balance as a Homeschool Mom HERE.

I'm taking the challenge again this year and I'm writing about something that is near and dear to my heart... Growing in Godliness.

I hope you will follow along this month as I tackle this challenge.  I'm praying and seeking Him with each post I write.

Be looking for my first post some time on Wednesday (after our What You Wish Wednesday link-up party).

The ladies from my church went on a little retreat and it was a much needed time of rest, fellowship, and communion with the Lord.

Did y'all get to check out my beach pics?  Click HERE to take a look.

Who's ready for the fall line-up?

I apologize in advance for the "battle-wound pic"...

This is what happens when you burn yourself with hot glue and wipe the glue off with the other hand.  OUCH!   It's healing very slowly.

Our little link party is doing really well!!  Please join us this Wednesday by linking-up a recent post of your choosing.  Click HERE to check out this week's link-up.

Ladies Retreat | Crystal Beach

I just got back from a wonderful retreat with the ladies from my church.  We had the best time of relaxation, communion with the Lord, and fellowship with one another.  I am refreshed and renewed!   I'm praising the Lord for my time away from the busyness of being a mom.

We stayed at a beautiful home on Crystal Beach.  It was truly a retreat home--newly built, spacious, and gorgeous.

On Friday, we played games, walked the beach, got settled, and enjoyed some really yummy seafood.  Saturday morning, we had a time of Bible study (myself and a friend shared with the group) and the rest of the day was spent relaxing.  Saturday night, we enjoyed more games, great food, and good conversation.

It's rare for me to take pics of anything other than my kids.  Both mornings, I rose early and headed out to catch the sunrise.  It was a peaceful time...

good friends

I had never been to a Texas beach before this weekend.  It was much different than the white sandy beaches of Florida, but still beautiful in its own way.  Where it's hard to find a really good shell in Florida, there are no shortage of shells on the Texas shoreline...

I have never seen so many shells in my life!

See the tiny sliver moon fading?

Can you spot the sun rising?

There were a few more early risers on day two.

My mom went on the retreat with me.  Sunday was her birthday and it was nice to share in her day.

I'm so thankful for my time away, but now it's back to the grind!  I am refreshed and ready to continue carrying out the Great Commission in my home with my children.  I'm praying they come to know the Lord soon and serve Him gladly as a member of the body of Christ--joyfully proclaiming His truths.

Soccer Mom!

It's that time of year again!  It's time to gear up for another soccer season!
This year, my sweet Edy Rose will be playing, too.
My little Honeybee

getting their game faces on

Edy has a natural aggression and competitiveness that can't be taught.  She is a gifted little soccer player!

AG is starting her 4th year of soccer.  Her first two years, she played co-ed and it was really difficult for her to learn the game or get any play time with the boys hogging the ball. :)  Last year, she started playing on an all girls team and she has grown leaps and bounds!  She's not aggressive by nature, but she is a skilled ball handler.  She mostly plays defense and she's intent on keeping the opposing team's ball out of the goal!

 my Purple Panther

The first game was ridiculously H-O-T!  We were seconds from catching fire!  At one point, Graham laughed at me because we got a little breeze and I said, "Thank you, Jesus!"  It was smoldering!

Joy was a real trooper out in the heat!  She hardly complained and kept a cute smile on her face that encouraged us wimps!
More to come as the season progresses!

Scripture Memory Cards | Free Printable

I've shared a number of times that I've really benefited from Donald S. Whitney's book, Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life.  It is an outstanding book with practical truths for growing in godliness.
By illustrating why the Disciplines are important, showing how each one will help you grow in godliness, and offering practical suggestions for cultivating them on a long-term basis, Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life will provide you with a refreshing opportunity to embrace life's greatest pursuit--the pursuit of holiness--through a lifelong delight in the Disciplines. --Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life, Donald S. Whitney

********************************************************

The discipleship group I lead is going through this book.  Along with the study, I made scripture memory cards for each of us to study, meditate on, pray, and memorize.  I wouldn't be a good blogger if I didn't share them with y'all, too!!  Plus, I truly pray that they can be a blessing to those that utilize them!  I trust that they will:

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

I had fun digitally making each card.  The verses represented on the cards coincide with the spiritual disciplines laid out in Whitney's book.

Printing suggestion:  For best results, print on white card stock.  I laminated my cards, punched a hole in the top left corner, and used a ring to hold the cards together.
