{abide}

And now, little children, abide in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not shrink from him in shame at his coming.  I John 2:28

Abide in me, and I in you.  As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.  I am the vine; you are the branches.  Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. John 15: 4-5

What does it mean to abide?

Abiding is a mark of a true believer--it's persevering. Abiding is not passive; it's continual and active.  To abide is to be obedient to the Lord.  Obedience to him produces true joy!

These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.  John 15:11

Read the Word of God.  Study it.  Pray it.  Live it.  Abide.

  1. I have started reading the Bible through this year and what a blessing it has been thus far. I can't believe I haven't done it already. I've been a Christian for 54 years and have read and studied the Bible for years and years, but nothing like reading it from cover to cover. Great post! Have a wonderful week!
