Dinner with God??

Graham's FB status update:

Driving Ava Grace home from church today and she says, "How was dinner with God?"

Me: "Dinner with God?"
AG: "Yes. I saw the little cups.
Me: "Oh you mean the Lord's Supper? It was great."

weekend {update}

Here's some pictures and a little commentary from our weekend.  Yeah, that's all I got...

On Friday, Graham took Edy on a date and I took AG with me...
Graham sent me this pic of his little date.  She's such a big girl.

Funny story:  A bus of elderly women pulled up to the hamburger joint, Edy spotted them and said, "Look Dad, it's Grandmas!"

I know that story added a little spice to this otherwise blah post!
AG and I went to one of our favorite places, Panera Bread. Finally! Tyler has one. We've missed it.
Someone was proud of her cookie!
I got "the usual".  It's always the trusty Fuji apple salad, a baguette, and a bowl of french onion soup.  I sense this post is moving back into the blah-zone!
AG's getting better and better at her manuscript.

Been a while since I posted a Sunday Pic.  Here ya go!
How's that for adding some awesomeness to this post?
We enjoyed a birthday party for our pal, Hendrix.  The girls loved their strawberry shakes.
hanging with the birthday boy
very fast slide--Can you see my cheeks blowing in the wind?
It's a sad day, I'm all out of GS cookies.  I just ate my last two for breakfast! Boo!
Are you still with me after that?
And finally, we had a huge brush pile that has needed to be burned for like forever!  Some of Graham's friends took care of it!  It was fun.
I ended this post with fire--FIRE!

So...there you have it!  Random-check, blah--maybe, but at least I got something posted, right?????????

I'll be back in a few with some fun craft posts!  I can already sense your excitement!!!

{ouch}

Today was a big day around here.  Both girls had their wellness check-up and both girls got shots.  Yes, I'm the crazy momma who scheduled both of my children's shots for the same day.

**FYI: AG is sort-of a wimpy kid.  Okay, before y'all get all judgmental on me, let me explain... Most four-year-olds are kinda wimpy, right?  I think AG could be more of a trouper--she seems to get her feathers ruffled over the smallest of things.**

Sooooo, in preparation for the visit, I told her that she was going to get a shot, that it would feel kinda like a pinch (stretch?), and she needed to be brave.  Funny enough, she was looking forward to the appointment.  She was bragging to Graham and me about getting a shot.  At one point, she even jumped up and down exclaiming, "I'm getting a SHOT tomorrow!"  Needless to say, I felt like I had told a big ole fib to my precious four-year old because she has absolutely no recollection of past shots.

During the examination, AG seemed so pumped about getting a shot.  I know the nurse was confused by her enthusiasm.
After the doctor checked the girls, two nurses entered with FIVE shots for AG.  Ummm.....I was WAY off on that one--totally told my kid that she would only get one or two shots.

The nurses asked me to hug AG as they administered the shots.  First shot, nothing!  Second shot, tiny flinch.  Third shot, "Ouch, THAT HURT!" Fourth shot, tears began to fall.  Fifth shot, sobs!  For the record, I teared up a little, too. Maybe I'm the wimp.

Let me say, if I were four, I would be crying after five shots!  I was SO proud of my girl.  I take it back--she's not wimpy at all!!!  She is SO strong and brave! :)

Next up, Ro!  She only got one big shot in the leg.  She did really well, too.

After all of the excitement, we headed to the mall for some Chick-fil-A and a cookie. Then it was off to Walmart for a little treat--My Little Pony (the girls' latest obsession).
How many of you can drive those two-seater carts?  I am terrible--totally almost took out an elderly woman.

Stats for AG:
Weight: 39.9 lbs--69 percentile
Height:  42.5 inches--78 percentile

Stats for Ro:
Weight: 29 lbs--75 percentile
Height: 35.5 inches--87 percentile

All Good Things...

...must come to an end.  Boooooo!

I received the final two cards from my Valentine's gift--day 6 and 7...
Day 6:  Okie dokie...this may be my favorite gift!  What do you think????
And the final installment:  Along with this final card, I got a "relaxation kit" compiled by my sweet husband. Very, very nice.
It just occurred to me that it may seem like I'm a super-duper-stressed-out person by the looks of some of my Valentine's cards. Actually, I'm not.  I'm not laid-back--it's just not my nature, but I'm not a stress-ball, either.  I LOVE my job as a mom and wouldn't trade it for anything, but these last few days of  R&R have been a real treat!

That's all!  What a wonderful gift from my amazing husband.  He's a keeper, huh?

Yoga Buddies

With the rainy and semi-cold weather, I have been forced to workout indoors.  It's been a while since I did Yoga (which I love) so I pulled out the ole mat and have been working muscles that have been dormant for a long while.

The minute that mat came out, I had two VERY interested little girls.  They moved and twisted, laughed and giggled, flopped and fell.  Needless to say, I haven't been able to concentrate on my breathing, form, and relaxation.  But I enjoy my new Yoga buddies--they're pretty cool.

Having the girls workout alongside me reminds me of the days of old when I used to workout with my momma.  Remember this, Mom?

Right now the girls are napping, so I'm off to do some uninterrupted Yoga before our session begins.

Favorite App

Ligonier Ministries: The Church App is my favorite app primarily because R. C. Sproul is one of my favorite teachers.  I like to listen to his teaching series while I'm in the car, getting ready, cooking dinner, etc.

Recently, I finished his series on the topic of Abortion.  True, the subject matter is devastating, but I encourage y'all to give it a listen.

Here is the introduction taken from Ligonier.org:

Are you pro-life or pro-choice? Few questions have divided America as deeply or as emotionally as this one. Abortion is such a deeply divisive issue because fundamental moral issues are at stake. In this series, Dr. Sproul moves beyond the shouting matches in order to examine the issue calmly and rationally. With clarity and compassion, he explains why abortion is a violation of God’s purposes for His creation.
Like no other contemporary issue, abortion raises fundamental questions of law, philosophy, religion, and justice. R.C. Sproul’s series navigates this complicated terrain with style and a deep commitment to examine objectively the case for and against abortion. Highly recommended.”

Valentine's Fun (Day 4 & 5)

If you have been keeping up with the Valentine's fun from Graham, here are the next two cards...
We love having breakfast together as a family, but it rarely happens.  Needless to say, I was thrilled  to go to The Diner (favorite breakfast spot) with my husband and girls--fantastic french toast.

How awesome is my husband?  I didn't have to plan, cook, clean-up, or anything.  We enjoyed some pizza, some Dateline NBC (the Redbox was out of the movie we wanted), and some quality time with one another.

Can you believe I still have two more cards?  This has been such a wonderful treat.  Wonder how he is going to top this next year??

lovely.

The Gift that Keeps on Giving

Not only did he get a babysitter, he also picked up a pizza for the kids' dinner.

He and I went for sushi.  I got the Tyler, TX roll--nice touch of spice and crunch.  After dinner, we went to Caffe Tazza for a homemade cinnamon roll and a cappuccino.
This morning I awoke to my next treat...
**FYI: The card can be confusing: I will be gone in the morning getting my crown...  Graham isn't being cocky, he was at the dentist! and I can put the girls down...  That's just our way of saying "nap time".

Anywho, I enjoyed a small popcorn (with butter) and saw Big Miracle.  It was a nice afternoon.

Happy Valentine's Day

We have had a great start to Valentine's Day...
The girls got one of my all time favorite Disney classics, Lady and the Tramp.
enjoying a Valentine's lunch
wearing a Valentine's lunch
heart-shaped quesadilla and strawberries, s'mores, and juice

Tonight, he got a babysitter and we are going out to dinner!  What a rare treat.  I'm thinkin' sushi!

the {true} vow

A few days ago, some friends and I went to see THE VOW.  It was an okay movie, but I was disappointed because I had already read the true story of Kim and Krickett Carpenter and the movie didn't portray it the way I would have liked--that's Hollywood, right?  In fact, in the movie, the couple gets divorced. DIVORCED!!!  What kind of vow is that???? (sorry if I spoiled it for some of you)  Just like Hollywood to make a movie called The Vow where the couple breaks said vow.

The actual story is wonderful--no divorce here.  That story would have been a terrific movie.  It is a story that starts with a commitment to God and then to the vows made before Him to love one another no matter what.  They had a tough go round, but in the end they remained committed.  In fact, Kim had to date Krickett all over again just like he did to win her love in the beginning.  She didn't recall him at all, but Krickett fell in love with her man again for the second time.

SO........if you get a chance, pick up the book:
And that is my two cents.

swim.in.

Aunt Ann and Aunt Dorothy came to see us this weekend.  One of the highlights of their visit was the trip to the hotel pool--indoor pool.

new swimsuits (in February)
first pair of flip flops {i think....i can't remember}

Awwwwwww.

{love} is in the air

Valentine's Day is tomorrow.

Today, Graham came home early from work with roses and some cards.  The first thing he said as he entered the door was, "I know you don't like gifts early, but there's a reason."

He handed each of his girls a single rose (a little tradition he's created).
Then, he handed me a card that contained seven separate cards...
Apparently, I'm going to get a little something each day this week.  How sweet is that?
Today, we headed to some local antique/junk stores looking for a little something for the house.  He knows me well.

We LOVE {our} man!

{play}date

Yesterday, I hosted a play group at our house.  We had a wonderful time--kids and mommies.

I'm so thankful for these kiddos and the friendships their mommies and I have with one another.
