Dining Room Makeover

Last week, while Graham was in Nashville with the youth, I headed down to Magnolia to spend some time with my mom. She has been wanting to redo her dining room for some time and asked me if I would help. I really enjoy painting, restoring, refinishing, sanding, decorating, etc. Needless to say, I was more than happy to help her. When I arrived, we headed to Lowe's to get the needed materials. Mom was easy to work with--she let me pick everything out and do everything, but paid for for it all!  My kind of project!

Pics of the dining room before the makeover:

This was my grandmother's furniture. My mom has wanted to change it for years. It is about 45 years old.

And, the finished product...

I sanded all of the furniture, stained the table and chairs, stained the top portion of the hutch and buffet. Then, I painted the bottom part of the buffet and hutch and sanded around the corners for an antiqued effect. I painted the walls...I really think the colors are nice.

We found a great deal on this upholstery fabric at Hobby Lobby.

Mom, I had such a great time transforming your dining room. It looks so good and I can't wait for Thanksgiving.

  1. Wow. Leslie you have mad skillz. I think you should have your own TV show... I will come up with a great title for it and we will pitch it to the networks for the big bucks. What do you say?
    Wait... I got it...

"Les is More" with Leslie Hale.
