BEFORE PICS:
After getting married, to save money, we used the armoire and desk in our bedroom.
AFTER PICS:
I stained the desk a dark espresso. I love the finished product.
The hardware was a BIG problem that I didn't see coming. Apparently, the holes for the pulls are 3.5 inches apart which is REALLY hard to find. The other problem was that the armoire has the same pulls, but the holes are only 3 inches apart for the pulls. So, I had to find pulls that matched that were made in both 3 and 3.5 inches. There were only two choices and none that could be ordered, but I am pretty pleased with the outcome.

The next road block: The armoire had these ornamental pieces of metal on the knobs. I never realized that the manufacturer had drilled an extra hole in the drawer to stabilize the piece so it would not move. For the drawers that require knobs, I had to fill the hole with putty and then I will get my trusty power sander and sand it flush with the wood. I hope it works.
Here is a picture of the holes on the armoire drawers. I only need the middle one. The other hole does not go all the way through the drawer and it is off center. It has to be fixed. The only other option was to use that ornamental metal in some way and I just could not see that working if my goal was to modernize and update this furniture.
I think it looks great and you are definitely more "crafty" than I!
